Solef® PVDF has a high modulus of 2 GPa of the virgin homopolymer, and good creep resistance. The suspension polymerization process assures the best mechanical properties (see ASTM F 1986).
PVDF SOLEF® is the reliable choice :
-
excellent chemical resistance to a broad range of chemicals, including sanitizing hypochlorite solutions and chemicals used in construction.
-
excellent tensile properties, a high creep resistance and no sensitivity to scratches
-
continuous usage temperature of up to 150°C.
-
UV and sun light resistance, intrinsic flame resistance and no thermal aging in hot water, no water up-take
-
very smooth surface leading to low biofilm adhesion.
-
high purity resin having extremely low ionic and TOC leachout, satisfying even needs of industries such as medical, pharmaceutical and semiconductor.
-
extensive approvals for water and food contact such as NSF 51, NSF 61, KTW, FDA 21 CFR 177.2510, DVGW W 270, 3A Sanitary Standards, WRAS / BS 6920, …
In addition, the processing of PVDF SOLEF® is straight forward :
-
no pre-drying before processing.
-
The melt temperature of PVDF SOLEF® is in the same range than that of polyolefins.
-
can be processed on a standard injection molding machine.
-
can be processed with a water cooled mold.
-
shrinkage of 2 – 3% which has to be taken into account for the mold design, but thanks to this shrinkage the injection molded part is in most cases free of internal stresses.
-
excellent release properties.
