 Fluoropolymers

| Solef® PVDF | Halar® ECTFE |

Due to their chemical inertness, fluoropolymers have been extensively used for liquid transport in the chemical industry, either as lining material to protect metallic piping systems against corrosion or as monolayer pressure resistant piping system. For this latter application, extensive data on the long term mechanical performance of most fluoropolymers are available and document the suitability of fluoropolymers for long term applications as it is the case in the building and construction market.

Due to their unique property mix, fluoropolymers are extremely versatile polymers. In addition to their exceptional chemical inertness which is of great importance for transport of chlorinated or ozonised water, they offer sunlight resistance including UV resistance, can even be used for UV sterilisation, have good barrier properties to water vapour and oxygen, and can be processed with very smooth surfaces.

Solef PVDF is by far the toughest fluoropolymer of our range with a tensile modulus of the virgin homopolymer of more than 2 GPa. The suspension polymerization process used for the production of PVDF SOLEF® assures the best mechanical properties.

Halar ECTFE combines a good pressure resistance with an exceptional chemical resistance.
