Solvay offers polymers suitable for use in fittings and manifold applications, in conjunction with PEX and multi layer piping systems. These polymers include RADEL® PPSU and ACUDELTM blends from Solvay Advanced Polymers and SOLEF® PVDF from Solvay Solexis. Each polymer offers a solution to corrosion and heavy metal contamination that can occur when metals are used as a fitting material.
 
Requirements for piping systems can vary significantly from country to country. For the European countries and Japan many suppliers follow the performance requirements spelled out in the DVGW working paper W-534. In North America performance requirements for piping systems are documented in various ASTM standards. The European conditions for testing and use are more demanding than those in North America.
 
The majority of manufacturers of fittings and manifolds in the European market have selected RADEL® PPSU or SOLEF® PVDF for their plastic fittings solutions. ACUDEL blends have been used for fitting applications in North America.
